“Technology driven product definition and sustainability are megatrends – and require rapid innovation”

How can companies benefit from sustainability?

Climate change is real – making sustainability the megatrend of our times. Companies need to review their entire business model to see if their products and services are still up-to-date and oriented towards the changing demands of customers and society.

A resulting realignment of the product portfolio or the business model may not only be a necessary reorientation, but also an opportunity to stand out from the competition in the respective industry. We support our clients in navigating the uncertainty towards sustainable mobility – e.g. with CO2 footprint analyses, TCO comparisons and business model innovation around circular economy.

How can SE help its customers adapt to rapidly changing requirements and drive effective innovation?

The ability to quickly adapt to changing customer demands, regulatory changes and technological advancements is key to survival: 40 % of the Fortune 500 companies are unlikely to survive the current decade!

Our proven innovation methodology enables companies to go beyond familiar innovation methods to plan and implement sustainable and successful change. By systematically anchoring in our participants’ minds the requirements of their clients’ customers and involving experts from in- & outside the company our format supports to identify what will be next.

Radical innovations result from bringing the participants out of rehearsed patterns of behaviour and thinking. Collaborative gamification elements help to create a creative space in the participants’ minds. Perspectives are changed and holistic thinking is stimulated. Despite the un-plannability of innovation, our process is convergent & robust in outcome, successfully tried and tested for many years.

You have accompanied several transformation programmes in the last 15 years – what are your experiences with successful change?

Authentic and clear communication is the basis for building trust and preventing people from falling into resistance. But most important is to participate people: actively engaging them shaping the change builds commitment, creates trust and – is also fun!

A critical mass of key client employees actively involved help to create and sustain the necessary momentum for transformation. Our experienced change agents act process-oriented and moderate expressed dissents among participants leading to resilient consensus and finally resulting in a powerful multiplier effect throughout the organization.

Only if the magnitude of change is too great to handle organizationally, and from an individual perspective, separating old business from new business is advisable.
