Strategic thinking. Engineered solutions. Your chance.
Implement solutions. Live leadership. With us.

Our Managers hone their leadership capabilities and take responsibility for projects, always with the approval of the relevant Principal or Partner. You keep an eye on the entire project without losing sight of the details. A Manager is the specialist team leader and ensures that projects are completed within the designated time, quality and budget parameters. They ensure that every opinion within the team is respected and drive creative thinking. Managers use the complete range of project management methods, are experts in our clients’ problems and industries and recommend solutions that make a real difference. Our Managers are also – just like Principals and Partners – official mentors for their younger colleagues.
Principals at Strategy Engineers are the senior managers for the project teams, the customer and our own organisation. They advise clients about complex problems – even outside the scope of any particular project – and nurture relationships over a long period of time. Principals are part of the Strategy Engineers management team, take on a variety of leadership tasks, broaden their fields of expertise and support other employees in developing their careers. Our Principals play an important role in the definition of our customers’ strategic agendas. Together with our Partners, Principals also acquire new business with existing and new customers, and develop innovative solutions for our target industries.
Expand your horizon. Never stop.
Our company culture is based on the principle that all employees develop by self-sufficiently finding solutions to customer problems. Many companies claim to “think outside the box” – but is there anything beyond the claim? Our customers value our creative, pragmatic and unconventional problem-solving approach. You will be an essential part of guiding a consultant team to create first-in-class project results. Every project will have your personal touch!
Escape known territory. Grow. Stay hungry.
Our clients need us to be the best possible support for their projects. But what does it take to become the best? Repetition? Maybe, but that’s boring. We offer dedicated trainings to explore new territories and escape the well-known.
The SE training program covers “Core Consulting Skills”, “Technical Knowledge” and “Expert Knowledge”.
Share a passion. Experience team spirit. Be yourself.
Dropping your pen at five o’clock sharp with an important steering project meeting the next morning? An option, but not the way we like to work. Consulting lives from highly motivated people that are willing to go the extra mile. We know that, too. Therefore, we want to make sure that our employee’s enjoy a harmonious work-life balance. Every single consultant should have enough time to lead a fulfilling personal life. Our aspiration is to find the right answer to every employee’s personal situation.
Get advice. Represent values. Team up.
As soon as you join us, you’ll receive support from an experienced mentor, who will help you with any questions you might have. Our unique team spirit enables us to live an open feedback culture – we regularly talk about the good, but naturally also about what could be improved upon.
Once you feel comfortable, you will be part of the mentoring program, too. This means that you will support younger consultants and pass on valuable experiences you have made during your professional career.

Having an exciting career without sacrificing your private life – something that you can’t have everywhere!
“I joined Strategy Engineers as one of its founding team members. SE offered the opportunity to build a company from scratch with motivated youngsters led by experienced industry veterans at the helm. This provided a start-up environment and mind-set but luckily at least some people knew what they where doing.”
Working at SE brings seemingly contradictory things together and makes them work. Three examples:
- Shaping the course of a whole industry while also getting your hands dirty. At SE, our projects allow us to do both at the same time. We work with C-suite executives shaping their agendas for their companies and ultimately of the whole industry. We conduct strategic analysis, use latest academic research and derive far-reaching recommendations for our clients. At the same time our projects allow us to pick up an angle grinder and dismantle suspension parts or spend an afternoon operating an excavator.
- Being part of the AVL Group of companies while enjoying maximal independency. We are part of the AVL and can reap all the benefits this entails. We have a strong and stable partner which we can tap into for technical expertise, benchmark data, global locations. At the same time, we enjoy maximal indepency in our daily business. We decide ourselves on strategic priorities, whom to hire, which clients to pursue, which projects to (not) do, and how to allocate our funds.
- Having an exciting and demanding management consultant job and working in it at all stages of your (private) life. Despite the exciting client projects and their demands on our time and readiness to travel, you can truly stay management consultant at SE your entire working life. I consider myself best proof of this, as I have grown through the ranks at SE while getting married and having children and pursuing my hobbies at the same time.
As a Principal at SE, you have a wide range of topics to cover. You have to lead and execute your projects, work with your clients and develop further leads, engage yourself in firm development, as well as growing and nuturing the team. A typical day is usually spent with all of the above, usually traveling from/to clients but always offering an opportunity to learn something new and grow professionally as well as personally.

Strategic consulting and technology expertise with an exceptional team and individual growth opportunities
Though being a mechanical engineer, fascinated by all kinds of technology, I have always had a soft spot for the strategic considerations which go beyond engineering. Strategy Engineers provided the opportunity to combine both these interests, technologic expertise and business thinking. Additionally, as a small company, SE offered the chance to quickly grow and take on responsibility without being stuck in the “corporate machinery”. And what can I say? I have never regretted it.
I joined Strategy Engineers because of the unique combination of technology and strategy consulting, and my project experience has proven me right. However, if you would ask me for the one single aspect which makes it special to work at SE, I have to name our team. Even if it sounds old … Our team comprises of people that came together because of their fascination for technology and their ambition to improve things together. But besides all professionalism, it is a team of individuals who take care of each other and who never lose their humor when working. Simply said, it is people like you and me, and working with them is what really makes it special to work at SE.
There is not the everyday work day at SE. Depending on your project, your day could look like anything from leading a workshop how to re-organise R&D for the development of autonomous vehicles, over giving the last touch to a management presentation how the latest developments on the Chinese car-sharing market will impact your client’s business, to being with a team of experts on a benchmark area identifying cost-down ideas for heavy-duty trucks. If there has been one constant in the last years working for SE, which defines the everyday work day, it is diversity. And that makes every day special.

Working at SE means taking over responsibility early in your professional career.
I chose Strategy Engineers based on my passion from my studies: Automotive industry. I started my career at SE as an intern and also wrote my Master thesis together here. You can tell that I must have had a good time and learned a lot. This made my decision pretty easy to join the team right after finishing my studies. I really enjoy the surrounding and being able to take over responsibility early in my carreer. You can only grow if you have space to develop – and this space is definitely available here at SE.
Short answer: Every day makes it special. I really enjoy the industries and topics we are working in. Nobody knows what the Automotive industry will look like in a couple of years. There is constant change. This is what motivates me: Constantly exploring the unknown and bringing real impact to our clients. A second aspect that really sticks out at Strategy Engineers is the team. I really enjoy working together with these motivated and inspiring people – across the complete team starting from Interns to Partners. The integrity of the team is unmatched and really makes this a special work place.
There is absolutely no day that looks like the one before. This starts with the location you are working as a consultant at SE. During my time I have had projects all across the world: Sweden, Spain, India or Japan – just to name some locations I worked at. It continues with the people you are working together with. As our projects usually run for 3-6 months you will have a changing team on both sides, customer and internally in the consultant team. This really makes sure that you will not fall in a boring everyday routine. Everyday brings something new!
Application process
The interview: An interesting discussion, not a cross-examination.
We don’t believe job interviews have to be one-way streets. It’s important to us to give you the opportunity to get to know us better. That’s why we offer several conversations with different colleagues who have varying levels of experience. In every interview, you get the chance to meet our team in person and find out more about us and our work.
Our interview process consists of two rounds of interviews, in which you will get to know two consultants. However, we are flexible and can adjust the process according to the specific situation. The interviews usually run as follows:

The purpose of the personality interview is to get to know you better. Use the presentation of your life and career so far to convince us about you! If you’ve been invited to an interview, we’ve already studied your CV in detail. In this part of the process, we’re also interested in finding out what’s hiding between the lines. For example, what challenging situations have you faced in your life and how did you overcome them? When did you do exceptionally well? What are your passions? And most importantly: what drives you and why do you think you’re a good fit for Strategy Engineers?
In the case interview, we want to challenge you with a problem that is completely new to you. It will reflect a typical situation that you would have to face in your daily work as a consultant. We’ll discuss a specific topic with you that we actually dealt with in a project. The interview usually starts with a short introduction from the interviewers. Then you need to answer the questions we put to you step by step. The interview will be a discussion with your interviewer, not a question and answer session. Impress us with your analytical capabilities, your structured approach and your communication skills!
